SLIPPERY ROCK — The father and son from Harrisville who had been missing since Monday night were found safe Wednesday night.

State police said they found the boy, Grant Brain, 10, at the house of a friend of his father's in the Slippery Rock area at 6:30 p.m.

Police said they then found the boy's father, 30-year-old Ronald Brain, about 9 p.m. also in the Slippery Rock area.

A police statement said the pair had been found “safe and healthy” with “no foul play suspected.”

Reached this morning, Anastasia, the boy's mother, confirmed that her son was home, but she did not know the whereabouts of her husband.

Ronald and Grant Brain were last seen at 9:30 p.m. Monday when they left their home in the 600 block of West Mercer Street Extension in Mercer Township. Brain told his wife that he was going to a Pittsburgh hospital to visit his mother, who reportedly is ill.

But the pair never arrived at the hospital. And, according to family members, there had been no word from either of them since 11 p.m. that day when Anastasia had reached her husband on a cell phone.

Ronald Brain's father-in-law, Randy Wentworth, said it wasn't unusual for Brain, who works for a company that cleans power plants, to visit his mother's hospital room, as they are close.

No one was surprised Brain took only Grant because his other two sons had just visited their grandmother with an uncle.
