Butler PoliceThursday — Charles A. Ragland, 44, no known address, was charged in connection with fraudulently using a friend’s Global Cash pay card seven different times last month.The victim, Gordon Taggart, told police the card was stolen from his apartment on the 200 block of North Main Street where Ragland had been staying on and off for much of May, according to court documents.He said the defendant was the last person in his apartment before the pay card turned up missing. He acknowledged he had given Ragland the card’s personal identification number.Taggart said when he checked his account balance he noticed seven unauthorized transaction that totaled $411.92.Police reviewed surveillance video from stores and other businesses where the card was illegally used. In one video, documents said, Ragland is seen using the victim’s card at 5:40 a.m. May 20 at the A-Plus on West Jefferson Street.Photo evidence also showed the suspect using the card at the PNC Bank ATM on South Main Street, where he withdrew $50.Police charged Ragland with access device fraud.

Cranberry Twp. Police12 p.m. May 25 — Police arrested a man and a woman from New York at the AT&T store on Route 19 for allegedly attempting to buy two Apple iPhones in someone else’s name.Dennis I. Romero, 38, and Nelly Romero, 50, both of Brooklyn, tried to buy and activate two phones valued at $1,588 and charge them to the account belonging to a man from Ohio, according to court records.The suspects allegedly had a forged identification with the Ohio man’s name and information and initially would not reveal their real identities to police.Both were placed in Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail each and charged with conspiracy, forgery, identity theft, retail theft and receiving stolen property, all felonies.Monday — Benjamin C. Mellor, 25, of Mars was charged with driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level of greater than 0.16 percent, stemming from a traffic stop May 22.Monday — Brian E. Buckholz, 30, of Freedom, Beaver County, was charged with DUI with a blood-alcohol level of greater than 0.16 percent, from a traffic stop May 6.Monday — David J. Donatelli, 55, of Mars was charged with DUI with a blood-alcohol level of between 0.10 and 0.16 percent from a traffic stop Feb. 14. He was also cited for failure to stop at a red signal.

Grove City PoliceThursday — Minor injuries were reported when a vehicle driven by Elizabeth Ivell, no age given, of Kennerdell rear-ended a truck on North Broad Street at Spruce Street. Michelle Stoops, no age given, of Slippery Rock was driving the truck.Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a 21-speed mountain bike on the 100 block of George Junior Road. The theft happened between 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.8:40 p.m. Sunday — Kenneth P. Grebiner, 48, was arrested stemming from a domestic disturbance at his home on the 600 block of Liberty Street. Police said Grebiner faces charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

State Police, Butler12:45 a.m. Thursday — Richard Dufford, 53, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 at Staff Road in Brady Township.11 a.m. Wednesday — Valerie Downs-Ulisky, 25, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of drugged driving stemming from an altercation with her boyfriend while the two were riding in a car on Jan Drive in Center Township.Police said Downs-Ulisky, while driving the car, got into an argument with 32-year-old Tyler Irvine of Butler. She is accused of hitting him several times with her right hand. When the defendant stopped the car, Irvine got out and ran away before eventually getting another ride home.The alleged victim later called police, who arrived at his home. While police were there, Downs-Ulisky showed up driving the same car in which she and Irvine had occupied. A trooper said she appeared to be impaired by drugs.Downs-Ulisky was subsequently searched and found with a small amount of suspected marijuana and a marijuana pipe. She was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Charges are pending toxicology results.Police also noted she was driving on a suspended license.
