KSAC gridders joining all-star game
BROCKWAY — Numerous area players will represent the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference in the inaugural Frank Varischetti Football All-Star Game July 1 at Brockway High School.
The game will feature the KSAC All-Stars taking on the Allegheny Mountain League All-Stars.
Graduated seniors from the 2015-16 academic year will play in the game. They were nominated and selected by the coaches in their respective leagues.
Karns City will be represented by Reese Barger, Neal Barnhart, Collin Dunmyre, Jarod Stewart and Austin Turner. Moniteau’s Shonn Kline, Derrick Kerr and Garrett Young will also play.
Union’s Dugan Gallagher, Cole Morris, Landon Forrest and Daniel Roberts are also on the KSAC team, along with A-C Valley’s Evan Redding and Brady Terwilliger.
Barger and Gallagher were first team all-state selections last season by the PA Football News.
Ed Wasilowski of Redbank Valley will coach the KSAC stars while Frank Zocco of Brockway will guide the AML stars.
The Frank Varischetti Foudation is hosting the event. It will present eight $1,000 scholarships to eight players, four on each team.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children.
