CWNC’s Cook opts for Franklin PierceCRANBERRY TWP — Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic senior Tatyana Cook is headed to Franklin Pierce University and will compete for the women’s rowing team there.Cook was a four-year member of the CWNC crew team and was captain her junior year. She was also an independent swimmer and a four-year WPIAL qualifier.Cook was co-captain of CWNC’s first swim team her senior year.Franklin Pierce is in Rindge, N.H., and competes at the Division II level.

SR’s Rinker joins West Penn AmateurSlippery Rock High School graduate Brett Rinker shot a 1-over-par 71 Thursday at the West Penn Amateur qualifier hosted by Pleasant Valley Country Club.Rinker tied Thomas Steve of Upper St. Clair for lowest score in the field. He is one of eight golfers from that qualifier to earn a berth in the 116th West Penn Amateur, scheduled June 20-21 at Bedford Springs.
