Fire destroys barn in Allegheny Twp.
ALLEGHENY TWP — A barn was destroyed by a fire just after 7:15 p.m. Thursday at 297 Parker Pike.
The initial call to the Butler County 911 Center said there might have been a man trapped in the structure. However, firefighters soon learned that the man no longer was in the barn, said fire Chief Bill Bartley of the Parker Volunteer Fire Company.
When crews arrived, the barn was fully engulfed in flames, according to Marcus Slaugenhoup with the Parker Volunteer Fire Company.
“The roof was already going in,” he said.
The fire took roughly half an hour to put out, but crews remained on scene until around 8:30 p.m.
Bartley said the barn is a total loss, but he could not estimate the monetary damage. The family is uninsured, Bartley said.
Bartley said the cause of the fire is not known but also not suspicious, saying that at this time of year, the temperature and humidity could have caused it.
