Fire quickly doused at shredding business
SUMMIT TWP — A fire in a commercial paper shredder this morning was put out quickly.
Emergency responders were called at 8:18 a.m. to 107 Bonnie Drive for a report of a fire, according to Butler County 911 records.
The fire started in Out of Sight Shredding, a business that occupies one portion of a building in the business park there.
It was put out by an employee with a fire extinguisher and firefighters used fans to clear the building of smoke, according to Scott Rattigan, chief of the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department.
No one was injured and damage was minimal. The building has sprinklers which would have turned on if the fire had gotten out of control, he said.
Responders left the scene in less than an hour.
The East Butler, Herman and Lick Hill fire departments and the Butler Ambulance Service responded to the call.
