CLINTON TWP - No one was hurt when a bookcase in the living room of this home at 123 Cherry Valley Road caught fire Tuesday morning.

Chris Dean, assistant chief of Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department, said the homeowner returned from breakfast and noticed smoke before calling 911 at about 10:30 a.m.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and remove a cat from the home, which was taken to a local vet's office as a precautionary measure.

Dean said the home sustained heat and smoke damage from the fire, the cause of which was not immediately known.
