Joe Kasprzyk, formerly of Center Township, has been awarded a 2016 Early Career Research Excellence Award by the International Environmental Modeling and Software Society.
The biennial award recognizes excellence by researchers having graduated with a doctoral degree within seven years of the award. The two other award recipients this year are from Finland and Australia.
The award will be given at the eighth International Congress on Environmental Modeling and Software in July in Toulouse, France.
Kasprzyk, a 2003 graduate of Butler High School, received his doctoral degree in civil engineering from Penn State University in 2013. He is an assistant professor in the civil environmental and architectural engineering department at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
His research advances techniques that support water resources planning and management using computer modeling.
He is the son of Joseph and Deborah Kasprzyk of Bedford.
