Walk of Hope draws record crowd
The third Walk of Hope in Butler on Saturday had 240 participants. That was a record number for the walk despite the rain.
It was organized by Hope for Broken Hearts, which is a family support group for people affected by loved ones caught up in addiction.
Several speakers, including pastors from different churches, offered prayers for families, those fighting addiction, those in recovery, and the community.
A prayer was held in the Westminster Church parking lot to start the event. Participants then walked to the Butler County Courthouse on Main Street for a prayer.
Next, they went to the county prison for a prayer. The walk ended in a prayer back at the church.
There were hot dogs, drinks, and snacks, and Hope for Broken Hearts also had a basket raffle.
The group focuses on support, education and saving lives. It allows people to speak openly about their experiences and their fears.
