Kids America Day set Saturday
CONNEQUENESSING TWP — Last year’s Kids Day America drew 3,000 people to its activities, games and information booths. Organizers hope to continue attracting a large crowd this weekend.
The event will take place along with the Cruza for Kids from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Butler Farm Show Grounds on Route 68.
Dr. Stuart Surkosky and the Care Chiropractic Center are sponsoring the event.
Surkosky said they plan to entertain the children with fair-like activities including, hayrides, slides and concerts. The youths also will be able to vote for their favorite car in the Cruza for Kids.
Surkosky said while they’re having fun, the children will get information about safety-related topics, along with activities to enforce these ideas.
“We will distribute information on crime prevention, healthy lifestyles, child safety and environmental awareness issues,” he said.
Surkosky said health screenings also will take place for children.
“The children are the primary concern of the day,” he said. “ You’re trying to make sure these children are evaluated.”
Surkosky said proceeds will be donated to the Specialty Outreach Services, an organization focused on giving juveniles a safe place to work.
He would like to continue to draw in large crowds to reach more children.
“The more kids that are exposed to the assets the community can offer, the better it is,” Surkosky said.
