Ford City man faces charges in fatal crash
SUMMIT TWP — The driver who caused the fatal accident Friday afternoon on Route 422 has been charged by state police.
Judith Fry, 76, of Summit Township died in the accident at 4:47 p.m. at the intersection of Route 422 and Keck Road.
Andrew J. Fair, 31, of Ford City is charged with following too closely.
He was driving a Dodge Ram 5600 in the left lane behind Fry, according a state police report.
Fry was attempting to turn left onto Keck Road when Fair’s Ram crashed into the rear end of Fry’s Oldsmobile Alero, causing it to spin into the right lane of Route 422.
Fry, who was alone in her car, was not wearing a seat belt, and the Alero’s airbags did not deploy. She was dead when emergency responders arrived on scene.
Fair, who also was alone in his truck, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
The accident closed that section of Route 422 for a while Friday.
East Butler Ambulance and the Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Both vehicles were towed.
The Thompson-Miller Funeral Home of Butler is handling her funeral arrangements.
