BUFFALO TWP — The township police department has a new leader.

The Buffalo supervisors Wednesday named Lt. Tim Derringer the new officer-in-charge of the department.

Derringer succeeds Lt. Alan Behanna, who died April 13.

Supervisor John Haven, board chairman, said this morning that Derringer was the best choice for the job.

“Just for his work ethic and the way he presented himself,” Haven said.

The supervisors also made two part-time officers, Scott Hess and Dan Ambrose, full time.

The department was down two full-timers after Officer Jason Sappe died April 19 just days after Behanna died.
