Workers from Saxonburg company injured
EAST PITTSBURGH, Allegheny County — Two employees of a Saxonburg-based construction company this morning were reportedly hit by a vehicle at a construction site.
The incident occurred on a Lincoln Highway overpass near the Westinghouse Bridge when a vehicle driven by an unidentified woman struck a Jersey barrier and drove onto a guard rail.
One worker was just grazed by the vehicle while a female worker was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Employees of Brayman Construction of Saxonburg were at the site, where a $2.4 million bridge rehabilitation project is going on this spring, according to the state Department of Transportation’s website. The work is being done where the road crosses over Bessemer Avenue.
A representative of the company said it still needed to gather information about the incident before it would comment.
The company is a heavy civil and geotechnical contractor with active projects in at least six states, according to its website.
