VA Butler Healthcare has a new peer-led group program, “Veteran HOPE,” for women veterans recovering from mental illnesses and substance abuse.

Women veterans enrolled at VA Butler Healthcare can attend this group. It meets from 6 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday in Room 217WS, Building 1, of the main VA Butler Healthcare campus.

Reality Tour set for Monarch Place

The Butler Reality Tour Drug Prevention Program will be at 6 p.m. May 9 at Monarch Place, 100 Brugh Ave.

The program is for youths age 10 and older. Each should be accompanied by a parent.

BAKERSTOWN — First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 and Heckert Road, will host a free workshop, “Sibling Rivalry and Eight Strategies to Reduce Conflict,” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. May 4. Anchorpoint Ministry will present the workshop.

PENN TWP — Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, will offer a Mother's Day brunch and craft session at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. May 8.

Following brunch, mothers and children will create a homemade hummingbird feeder together.

RIMERSBURG — The Rimersburg United Methodist Church will host its annual car cruise from 3 to 6 p.m. May 7 in the parking lot behind the church on 399 Main St.

Food will be served from 3 to 5 p.m. for a donation that will benefit “My Brother's Keeper,” a local mission that provides financial assistance to those who are ill or who have other problems that cause financial difficulties.

The Lifesteps' Child Check team will offer free screenings in May for children from birth to age 5:

9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.

9 a.m. to noon May 16, Lifesteps Butler County Program Center, 383 New Castle Road.

A Child Check takes about 30 minutes. The results are discussed immediately with the parents. The screening evaluates the child's development in playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking.
