Thomas “Bucky” McKay Sr.

Thomas “Bucky” McKay Sr., 73, of Cranberry Township passed away peacefully Wednesday at his home, following a 13-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bucky is survived by his wife, Karen (Sberna) Boring McKay; two children, Thomas (Maureen) McKay Jr. of Harmony and Tracy (John) McKay Christner of Rostraver Township; two stepsons, Kenneth (Sherri) Boring of Beaver Falls and Aaron (Christine) Boring of Franklin Park Borough; seven grandchildren, Kayley McKay, Jenna and Megan Christner, Joshua, Jordon, Dylan and Brittney Boring; many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John D. McKay; his mother, Marie Rourke McKay; his brother, J. Donald McKay; and his infant brother, Russell McKay.

Bucky worked as a home remodeling contractor and owned Thomas McKay Contracting.

He graduated from Hampton High School in 1960 and moved to Cranberry Township in 1965. He was a member of the Cranberry Township Athletic Association for many years, coaching and umpiring baseball teams from Little League through Colt League, and he was also a Midget Football head referee.

Bucky was a captain of the Cranberry Volunteer Fire Department and a founding father of the Cranberry Ambulance Service. He was the first fire inspector for Cranberry Township.

He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed drag racing his 1969 Dodge Charger. He continued his passion for drag racing until last year. He also had a love for traveling and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

MCKAY — Friends of Thomas “Bucky” McKay Sr., who died Wednesday, March 23, 2016, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Andrew Fischer as celebrant. He will be laid to rest at the Zelienople Cemetery.Friends are asked to please meet at the church.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Bucky's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
