John (Jack) C. Schrott Jr.

John (Jack) C. Schrott Jr.

John (Jack) C. Schrott Jr., the beloved husband of Dona and loving father of John (Lynn), Matthew (Judy), Mark (Lisa) and David (Christine), passed into the loving, outstretched arms of Jesus early Tuesday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.

His wife; sons and their wives; his sister, Lois; 10 grandchildren, who affectionately call him “Bup”; four stepgrandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred; his brother, Daniel; and twin sister, Joan.

Born Dec. 13, 1931, Jack lived a full life devoted to family, faith and his Butler community, which he and Dona joined in 1960, three years after they married.

He was active with the Boy Scouts and served as a member of the United Way of Butler County board of directors and it's executive committee. On Delaware Drive, Jack was known as “The Mayor” because of his dedication to unite the neighborhood socially.

In 1952, Jack joined the U.S. Army, where he spent 18 months serving as a military police officer in Korea. During this time abroad, he decided to invest in the accounting field. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1955, he enrolled at Robert Morris University, where he completed his four-year accounting degree in two years.

Thus, hard work defines Jack in every aspect of his life. He advanced from clerk at T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. to department head to director of accounting and eventually a corporate officer during his 37 years of service.

He also invested greatly in the lives of his sons and their families, where he was a provider, protector and example of selfless father.

It was in Butler, his truest earthly home, where he realized the blessing that we have. For all this he thanks his parents, God and above all, his wife.
