Freeport library will stage saleFREEPORT — The Freeport Library, 428 Market St., will host a flea market and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.The sale will include household items, jewelry, collectibles, furniture, used books, CDs and DVDs, among other items.All proceeds will benefit the library and will be used for operating expenses.The library accepts donations of flea market items in good condition throughout the year.For library hours and other information, call 724-295-3616 or visit freeportlibrary.org.

Author to visit Cranberry libraryCRANBERRY TWP — Local author J.J. Hensley will visit the Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. April 28.Hensley will discuss his books, “Measure Twice,” “Resolve” and his newest title, “Chalk’s Outline.” He also will sign copies of his books. Books will not be available for purchase at the program.The event is free, but seating is limited and registration is required. Empty Bowls dinner returns to SRHSSLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School will have its third annual Empty Bowls dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. April 29 in the high school cafeteria, 201 Kiester Road.There will be more than 400 ceramic bowls, handmade by students, available for sale and a donated dinner from local restaurants, parents and volunteers.Tickets will be sold for this public event inside the cafeteria doors. Tickets also are available from April 25 to 29.All proceeds will go to the North Butler County Feed My Sheep Food Pantry, Portersville Food and Fellowship for People, and the Mt. Chestnut Food Bank. Spring fling slated May 3PROSPECT — The Butler After Five Women’s Connection will hold its Spring Fling at 6:30 p.m. May 3 at The Atrium, 1031 New Castle Road.
