Soroptimists report winners
Soroptimist International of Butler County announced the Live Your Dream award winners.
Kelly Thompson, a Butler County Community College student studying medical records and coding, received a $1,000 grant. Her application will go to the region level for further opportunities for grants.
Jacquelyn Plaisted, a Butler County Community College student studying medical records and coding, received $500.
Judy Neigh received the Soroptimist Ruby Award for a community member. She has been active in the Butler area for more than 50 years. Neigh helps the community through the YWCA, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Intermediate League and many other activities and events.
MaryJo Grinder, president-elect, received the Soroptimist Ruby Award for a club member.
She has been an SIBC member for three years. She served as recording secretary and chairman of the fashion show.
She is a leader in the A Place to Lay My Head project.
She also volunteers in the Butler community through St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, where she serves community dinners and is chairman of the faith formation committee.
The SIBC officers are Diane Dancik, president; Grinder, president-elect; Susan Levish, recording secretary; Diana Crispen, corresponding secretary; and Marianne Hill, treasurer.
The group will hold a meeting for prospective members at 6 p.m. April 26 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church social hall. A light dinner is planned.
