Firefighters rescue logger this morning
CHERRY TWP — Rescue crews had to trudge through woods, trample rough terrain and wade through a creek to reach a logger in distress this morning in northern Butler County
More than 30 minutes after receiving a medical call for an apparent seizure victim, firefighters found the unidentified 37-year-old man about 9:30 a.m.
His condition was not immediately available.
The man was reportedly cutting trees in woods off Grubb Road in Cherry Township shortly before 9 a.m. when he suffered a medical condition.
Rescuers battled dense woods and brush in searching for the man.
Volunteer firefighters from West Sunbury, Slippery Rock and Marion Township, some with chain saws and some aboard all-terrain vehicles, were part of the rescue effort.
Slippery Rock Ambulance also was called.
Using a Stokes rescue basket, crews removed the man from the woods on an ATV.
