FRANKLIN TWP — A number of people and businesses were honored April 7 by Community Care Connections at its Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner.

The event at The Atrium was attended by more than 75 guests, staff and board members.

The Patty L. McCool Advocate of the Year Award was presented to Joyce Ainsworth, Butler County Human Services director, for her dedication, advocacy and work on behalf people with disabilities.

She was recognized for going above and beyond her duties as director to ensure that people under the care of agencies such as Community Care Connections receive the best quality of care in an environment that is safe, comfortable and provides for all their special needs.

Ainsworth also was the Keynote speaker, reviewing the changes in the human services system in recent years.

The Jessica M. Forsythe Community Service Award was presented to representatives of AK Steel and UAW Union Local 3303 for their fundraising efforts and construction of the Iron Man Pavilion on the Community Care Connections campus.

Participants in other programs also will enjoy using the pavilion for picnics and other gatherings throughout the summer.

The agency also recognized businesses and individuals who provided financial contributions and volunteer service during 2015.

Sponsors and vendors for the Chef Tasting Party & Auction, the agency’s major fundraising event, received special Community Partner Awards.
