Butler Twp. PoliceMonday — David Lee Krason, 67, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a crash last month in the 200 block of South Duffy Road. Police said Krason about 5:30 p.m. March 23 ran over several mailboxes.Officers found him stopped in his car at a restaurant parking lot on New Castle Road. In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Krason is charged with hit-and-run, careless driving and failing to keep right.Monday — Police charged Stephen E. Wiles, 28, of Butler with drunken driving in connection with a motorcycle crash March 16 on Cypress Street. Wiles suffered minor injuries in the crash about 7 p.m. He is charged with DUI and careless driving.Monday — Clayton C. Fredley, 25, of Butler was charged with a pair of shoplifting incidents just three days apart last month at the Target store at Butler Commons.Police said Fredley on March 22 stole $200 in merchandise. He is accused of taking $430 in merchandise March 25. Fredley is charged with two counts of retail theft.5:49 p.m. Friday — Three people were hurt when Richard A. Brown, 50, of Butler lost control of his car and crossed over Mercer Road, hitting a tree in the front yard of a home. The car then struck an occupied vehicle that was parked off Mercer Road.Brown and his wife, Tracy L. Brown, 39, who was riding in the car, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. Daniel H. Kresh, 54, of Butler, who was in the parked vehicle, suffered a minor injury.Both vehicles had heavy damage. Brown was cited for driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
Grove City PoliceSaturday — A vehicle driven by Christa Campbell, 29, of Grove City struck a metal fence at a gas meter station on Liberty Street. She was not injured, but her car was towed.
State Police, Butler5 p.m. Saturday — A minivan crossed into opposing traffic and struck a car on Old East Butler Road just east of Madison Avenue in East Butler Township. The unknown driver of the van did not stop.The other driver, Blayne R. McConnell, 18, of Fenelton, was not hurt.The van is described as a light blue, older model Dodge Caravan with possible front driver’s side damage. Police said they recovered the suspect vehicle’s running board, which has a steel plate with the name “DEE ZEE” on it.9:57 a.m. Friday — David M. Pozza, 49, of Butler is suspected of driving under the influence on Route 8 just south of Hall Road in Brady Township. The investigation is ongoing.Wednesday — Bradley J. Harriett, 42, of Butler was charged with drugged driving and drug possession stemming from a traffic stop about 11:10 a.m. Feb. 19 in Muddy Creek Township.Police said after stopping Harriett’s car on East Portersville Road, they noticed on the front passenger seat a lock box with a bottle of prescription methadone in it. He told police he is prescribed the medication and is required to keep it locked at all times, according to court documents.But the trooper noticed other suspected drug contraband items, including steel wool and small plastic baggies scattered through the car.Harriett admitted the baggies “once had crack cocaine inside of them” and the steel wool was used “to smoke crack cocaine,” a police affidavit said.A search of the car later yielded a drug pipe, marijuana and a prescription pill.Police took Harriett for a blood test. Toxicology reports subsequently showed these drugs in his system: antianxiety medication, cocaine and methadone.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana, careless driving, disregarding traffic lane and not wearing a seat belt.
State Police, FranklinApril 4 — A Sony PlayStation 4 video game console and video games were stolen from a man’s home on Route 8 in Irwin Township. The theft happened between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m.
State Police, Kittanning3:20 p.m. Saturday — A 14-year-old Freeport boy was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital with injuries suffered in a dirt bike accident in South Buffalo Township. The teenager was driving the bike on Sipes Road when another 14-year-old Freeport boy, also driving a dirt bike, suddenly applied his brakes. The victim lost control and fell onto the road.He was taken to Children’s Hospital with unknown leg injuries. A police report said both boys were cited for illegally driving a dirt bike on a road.2:51 p.m. Saturday — John L. Askounes Jr., 31, of Kittanning was caught with suspected drug contraband following a traffic stop on Route 28 about one mile south of Route 422 in North Buffalo Township.Police cited Askounes for driving a vehicle without both insurance and valid inspection. He also faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.1:15 p.m. Saturday — Dylan S. Mergen, 18, of Kittanning was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 56-year-old woman on Mile Long Road in North Buffalo Township. The suspect is accused of shoving the Kittanning woman to the ground and smashing her phone.He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $2,500 bail.
State Police, Mercer11:26 p.m. March 5 — Three bulldog hood ornaments and a citizens band radio microphone were stolen from the Tri-County Industries dumpsite in Pine Township, Mercer County. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.
