3 injured in crash Saturday
BUTLER TWP — Township police say “extreme” speed was a factor in a one-vehicle crash on Fairground Hill Road early Saturday morning that resulted in injuries to three people and the driver being arrested for suspicion of DUI.
Police say Eric Defelice, 20, of Butler, was arrested after his Toyota Avalone went into a wooded ravine along Fairground Hill Road between Campus Lane and Whitestown Road at 12:29 a.m., while Defelice was driving at “extremely fast speeds” and lost control.
Police said a passenger in the rear of the vehicle, Steven Dunmire, 22, of Butler, was ejected and suffered “numerous” injuries. The vehicle caught fire shortly after the crash.
Police said Dunmire and a passenger in the front of the car, Mia Kopps, 20, of Butler, were both treated for injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital. Defelice also suffered injuries and was released from custody for treatment at the hospital. Charges against him will be filed pending the results of a blood test, police said.
