Reagan official to speak at GCC

Bennett to give keynote address

GROVE CITY — Grove City College graduates will hear from one of the architects of the “Reagan Revolution” at their commencement ceremony this spring; and from a renowned theologian at their baccalaureate, the institution announced Thursday.

William Bennett will deliver the keynote address at the college's 136th commencement exercises at 10 a.m. May 14.

Theologian Michael Horton will speak at 7 p.m. May 13, at the college's baccalaureate service.

Both events will be on the college's Quad, weather permitting.

Bennett was U.S. Secretary of Education under President Ronald Reagan, and was appointed as the nation's first drug czar by President George H.W. Bush. Bennett also taught at Boston University, the University of Texas, and is the author of numerous books.

“His tireless work in service to the betterment of our country possess a breadth and depth that that largely and favorably impacted academia, public policy and the free exchange of ideas,” said college President Paul J. McNulty, in a statement announcing Bennett's speaking at the college.

Horton is the J. Gresham Machen Professor of Theology and PApologetics at Westminster Seminary in California, where he has taught since 1998.

He is the host of The White Horse Inn radio broadcast and editor in chief of Modern Reformation magazine, and the author of various books.

Both commencement and baccalaureate events are public.

In case of rain, both will be in the Arena of Physical Learning Center, and access will be limited to ticketholders.
