'Wedding Singer' mixes music, laughs

The cast of Union High School's upcoming musical production of “The Wedding Singer” gather on set. “The Wedding Singer” will be performed at 7 p.m. April 7-9 at the high school auditorium, 354 Baker St., Rimersburg.

RIMERSBURG — Union High School will present the musical “The Wedding Singer” at 7 p.m. April 7, 8 and 9 at the high school auditorium, 354 Baker St.

Tickets are $5 and will be available only at the door.

“The Wedding Singer,” based on the 1998 Adam Sandler movie, has music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy.

It tells the story of wedding singer Robbie and waitress Julia, who are both engaged to be married but to the wrong people. Fortune intervenes to help them discover each other.

David Gibson is the director, and Cindy Culp is the assistant director.

Brittany Gauger-Chore is the choreographer, Jamey Cyphert, the sound technician and Peyton MacKinlay, the student sound technician. Noah Vereb is in charge of lighting.

The sets are by Michelle Ballas and Union High Art Department.

Lisa Hummel is the pit conductor.
