Wanted man gets tasered and arrested

BUTLER TWP — A wanted man who didn’t want to go back to jail was arrested Tuesday even after a Taser failed to stop his would-be getaway, authorities said.

Micah D. Hartman, 36, was hit in the back with the Taser fired by a Butler County sheriff’s deputy about 11:15 a.m. near his home on Dolphin Drive. Deputies had gone there looking for Hartman, who was wanted on three bench warrants and attempted to flee.

The deputy warned him to stop running or she would deploy her electrical weapon, authorities said. She fired the Taser when he kept running.

But Hartman pulled one of the probes off his back. His brief escape ended when the officer ran him down. Another deputy got there and helped placed him in handcuffs.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Hartman on charges of flight to avoid apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the county prison on $10,000 bail.

He also is held on the warrants issued after he failed to appear for probation violation hearing in connection with three separate theft-related cases in 2014 and 2015.
