Man hurt this morning in tractor accident
BUFFALO TWP — A man was flown to Allegheny General Hospital this morning after he was thrown from a tractor while driving in the 100-block of Smith Road about 11 a.m.
Matt Cypher, the chief of Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company, said the cause of the accident at 105 Smith Road, near its intersection with Sarver Road, remained undetermined.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a man laying injured in a field, with a large farm tractor a short distance away.
“It appears that he was ejected from the tractor at some point,” said Cypher.
He said the man had been driving along the road and was apparently headed south when the accident occurred.
Cypher could not immediately describe the nature of the man’s injuries and said the man still was being evaluated when he was flown to the hospital via LifeFlight.
The department had not released the man’s identity as of noon, but Cypher said that his family had been contacted.
