Rock lacrosse ends skid
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team earned its first victory over Bloomsburg since 1988, defeating the Huskies 14-9 Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
The Rock (5-2, 2-1) had lost 13 consecutive games to Bloomsburg.
Erin Wilcox had four goals, Kaytlin Callaghan a goal and four assists for SRU. Chynna Chan contributed three goals and Ally Cuhane netted a pair.
The Rock plays Tuesday at Lake Erie College.

The Rock's woes continued Saturday as Mercyhurst (16-8, 5-3) completed a four-game weekend sweep with a 10-0, 11-4 doubleheader win in Erie.
James Divosevuic had three hits in the twinbill for SRU (6-21, 1-7) while Tyler Walters had two singles, a homer and two runs scored. Alex Bell homered and singled.
Pitchers Matt Gordon and Shawn Holman took the losses for The Rock, which travels to Indiana (Pa.) for a doubleheader Friday.

Brooke Dawson scattered seven hits and registered a shutout as SRU (10-13, 1-3) won the second game of a Saturday twinbill, 1-0, over Seton Hill.
Ashley Samluk delivered a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning for the game's only run. Seton Hill (10-14, 3-1) won the first game, 7-1.
SRU travels to Mercyhurst Friday.
