Christ Community UNITED METHODIST

The Easter chancel choir of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will not practice tonight. The choir will sing Palm Sunday and rehearse at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The community dinner work team will meet at 4 p.m. Monday. The church council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Maundy Thursday service will be at 7:30 p.m.

There is a container in the narthex for summer clothing donations for children in Butler elementary schools.

Donations for soldier care packages may be placed in the narthex.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.

Donations of pasta and sauce and/or paper products for St. Vincent De Paul’s Food Bank will be collected Sunday.

Filled balloons for the Eggstreme Easter service should be returned to the church Sunday.

The Tuesday prayer meeting is from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at 440 W. Pearl St.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

The Palm Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will include a processional with palms, distribution of palm crowns and the One Great Hour of Sharing offering.

The Maundy Thursday service will be at 8 p.m. and include Holy Communion and the Ancient Order of Tenebrae Service. The service is based on the ancient tradition of extinguishing candles one by one until the worshipping congregation sits in total darkness.

FIRST BAPTIST

The ladies’ Bible study of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will be at 7 p.m. today at the Dittmer home.

The First Baptist Christian School senior class will have a luncheon for the berean class at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist Youth Center.

There will be an all-church game night at 5 p.m. Saturday. Take something to share for the potluck supper, a two-liter container of pop and a favorite game.

FIRST BAPTIST OF EVANS CITY

The youth ministry of First Baptist Church of Evans City, 242 S. Washington St., Evans City, will have youth night at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will have Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services at 7:30 p.m. The Maundy Thursday service will include Communion.

As part of celebrating Easter, there will be brunch between the morning services in the fellowship hall.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

The confirmation class at Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will not meet Sunday.

Volunteers will take Communion to LIFE Butler County at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The Rev. Deb Crusan will lead the Palm Sunday worship service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. Children should arrive at 10:15 a.m. to participate in the procession of the palms.

The yarn group will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the Hall Lounge.

Today is the deadline to make reservations for the Easter breakfast.

Senior Night Out will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

March 27 is the deadline to provide current addresses for care packages to college students or military personnel.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The church session of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will meet at 7 p.m. today in the board room.

The Rev. William Jackson. will be the speaker for the Lenten lunch at noon Friday.

MERIDIAN UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will observe Holy Communion at the 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday service.

The annual Good Friday breakfast will be at 6:30 a.m. in the church’s McCaslin Hall. Following breakfast, guest speaker Amanda Becker of Hosanna Industries will speak on mission work. Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will have Palm Sunday Communion this week.

There will be a service with Communion at 7 p.m. March 24.

Tenebrae, meaning darkness or shadows, will be at 7 p.m. March 25.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will distribute palms at the Sunday worship service. There will be a light lunch afterward and prayer stations for reflection and meditation.

Christ’s Last Supper and the final evening of his earthly life will be remembered in a Communion service at 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday.

A community Good Friday service will be at noon at the church.

THE SOWER'S CHAPEL

The Sower's Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver, will have a family Holy Supper service at 6 p.m. March 24. The service will be an opportunity for children to learn about and participate in holy supper.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate Palm Sunday with Holy Communion during the worship service.

The church council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

A parish Maundy Thursday service will be at 7 p.m. The Rev. Gary Brown will lead the service.

The Rev. Norm Tutino will be the guest minister for the community Good Friday worship service at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Reformed Church.

ST. JOHN’S REFORMED

St. John’s Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, will have its Easter cantata at the Sunday service.

ST. JOHN’S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

The Rev. Jane Duffield will be the guest minister for Sunday’s morning service at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City. Palm Sunday will be marked by special music and a special service to welcome two new confirmands into church membership.

The Christian education committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

The First Communion class of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will meet for a retreat at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall. First Communion and confirmation classes will meet at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Holy Communion will be served at all services Palm Sunday.

St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., will have Stations of the Cross at 4 and 7 p.m. Friday.

A Mass in Spanish will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday.

There will be a penance service from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

There will be a Tenebrae service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

SUMMIT PRESBYTERIAN

Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, will have a Palm Sunday worship service followed by small group studies for all ages.

The youths of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler Township, will go to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church for a youth event after the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

ZION LUTHERAN

Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, Chicora, will distribute palms Sunday. There will be an ice cream sundae fellowship afterward. There will be no Sunday school or adult Bible study.
