Police searching for man who allegedly fired a gun in the city

Butler police are seeking a suspect accused of firing a gun after trying to break into a home on Sumner Avenue early Tuesday morning.

District Judge William Fullerton on Wednesday issued a felony arrest warrant for 29-year-old Trimayne K. Franklin, 29, who has no known address.

Franklin allegedly showed up about 5 a.m. at Percy Guilky's home on Sumner Avenue and started pounding on the front door, police said.

The noise awakened Guilky, who recognized the suspect's voice yelling to let him in or he was “going to shoot the house up,” according to court documents.

The alleged victim would not let in the intruder, who forced open a locked screen door. Moments later, he heard a gunshot.

Police charged Franklin with trespass and terroristic threats, both felonies, and reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. The Butler police warrant is not the only one out for Franklin. For nearly four years, Adams Township police have been looking for the suspect in connection with a felony drug case.
