Feds seek reversal of Apple rulingWASHINGTON — Calling a New York judge’s ruling “an unprecedented limitation” on judicial authority, the Justice Department asked a Brooklyn federal court on Monday to reverse a decision that said Apple wasn’t required to pry open a locked iPhone.The government’s 45-page brief comes a week after U.S. Magistrate Judge James Orenstein issued his decision in a routine drug case, dealing a blow to the Obama administration in its battle with the tech giant over privacy and public safety.Government lawyers called their Monday request routine, arguing that the case is not about asking Apple to do anything new, or to create a “master key” to access all iPhones.
Hardees leaving St. Louis for Tenn.ST. LOUIS — Hardee’s corporate operations are leaving St. Louis.CKE Restaurants, parent of the Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. burger chains, said Monday it will consolidate its offices in Nashville, Tenn. The consolidation, set to happen early next year, means Hardee’s will leave its space in downtown St. Louis, and Carl’s Jr. will vacate its headquarters in Carpinteria, Calif., near Santa Barbara.CKE said in April it was considering moving Hardee’s to Nashville. The company’s 10-year lease in downtown St. Louis expires in 2017.
