Child Check dates slated in MarchThe Lifesteps’ Child Check team will conduct two free screenings in March:9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.9 a.m. to noon March 21 at Lifesteps Butler County Program Center, 383 New Castle RoadA Child Check visit takes about 30 minutes and the results are discussed immediately with the parents.The screening evaluates the child’s development in playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking.Appointments are recommended. Auxiliary will host spring bazaarGROVE CITY — The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 220 will have its spring bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 19 at the John R. Huff American Legion Post 220, 415 S. Broad St.There will be crafters, vendors, an auction, door prizes and a bake sale.Lunch will be available. The event will be smoke-free and handicapped accessible.

Jennings features maple sugaringSLIPPERY ROCK — Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will offer a program on maple sugaring at 2 p.m. March 20 at the center.Participants will discover how sap taken from a maple tree becomes syrup on the breakfast table.This is an annual, free program. Registration is not required, but come on time to get a seat for this very popular program.Notices of local upcoming news should be received by the Community Department one week in advance of the event.
