Police identify suspect in bank robbery
City police have identified a suspect in this morning's robbery at the NextTier Bank on East Diamond Street, and are searching for him now.
If you know the whereabouts of 35-year-old Kevin Franklin, pictured here, you are asked to call 911 or your local police department. Do not approach him.
Butler City Det. Anthony Fatta said a warrant for two counts of robbery already have been filed against Franklin with Butler County Courts.
The warrants reportedly followed a positive identification of the suspect.
Another city police officer, Sgt. William Mayhugh, recognized Franklin from survelience inside the bank at the time of the 9:30 am robbery, Fatta said.
Then, Franklin allegedly walked into the bank and demanded money from a female clerk.
“Give me all the hundreds you have and 20s and 50s too,” Fatta said the unarmed robber demanded of the clerk.
The robber, who was given $2,260 from the teller's drawer, then fled on foot.
