Man faces charges after allegedly punching EMT

He's also accused of drug possession

CRANBERRY TWP — A Lawrenceville man was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony aggravated assault after he allegedly punched an EMT in the face last month.

Scott Stewart, 24, was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. A warrant for his arrest had been issued Monday.

He is facing charges from two incidents Feb. 19.

That morning, Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police were called to his parents’ house in Seven Fields where they said Stewart was causing a ruckus, according to court records.

He allegedly used a screwdriver to puncture two tires on his brother’s car and caused other property damage at the home. He was charged with misdemeanor trespassing, harassment and criminal mischief.

That night, Stewart’s mother and grandmother, Sharon and Joyce Stewart, asked Cranberry Township police to help serve a mental health warrant. They told police he claimed to have consumed 60 to 70 Klonopin pills and was sleeping at Joyce Stewart’s home on Hummingbird Circle in the township.

While serving the warrant, police allegedly found Stewart to have marijuana and a glass pipe, which he flushed down the toilet while the officers were there.

He became agitated when they put him on a stretcher, and he punched an EMT in the face, causing the technician’s nose to bleed, according to court records.

He was then handcuffed to the stretcher and taken to a medical facility.

He was charged with felony aggravated assault, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and harassment.
