Butler Police12:30 a.m. Monday — Keith J. Lambing, 19, of Butler is accused of wreaking havoc on a holding cell at the Butler police station following his arrest on a warrant.Lambing allegedly threw water on the floor, flushed items down the toilet and punched the walls and doors. He hit his head on the doors, causing a cut on his forehead that required treatment at Butler Memorial Hospital.Police said it took four officers several hours to prevent the defendant from injuring himself. He was arraigned on a charge of resisting arrest, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail.Sunday — Joshua W. Shuler, 30, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife, Kathy Shuler, during a domestic dispute at their home on Sherman Avenue. He is accused of punching her and throwing her to the floor. She suffered cuts and bruises to her arms.Shuler was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.
Butler Twp PoliceMonday — Kyle R. Wenzel, 20, of Cranberry Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop shortly after midnight Feb. 14 on Kriess Road near Whitestown Road.In addition to DUI, Wenzel is charged with underage drinking, minors prohibited from driving with any alcohol in their system, failing to stop at a red light, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, reckless driving and littering on a highway.Monday — Police charged Ronald J. Hume, 44, of Butler with DUI in connection with a one-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m. Feb. 14 at Benbrook Road and Greenwood Drive. Hume also was cited for driving without a license and disregarding traffic lanes.Monday — Angela M. Crawford, 29, of Karns City was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop at 6:57 p.m. Jan. 31 on Meridian Road.Crawford is charged with DUI, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, careless driving, reckless driving and disregarding traffic lanesMonday — Robert J. Armstrong, 36, of Lyndora and Daniel T. Gibson, 28, of Butler were both charged in connection with a case of suspected shoplifting Jan. 12 at the Butler Commons' Walmart.Police said Gibson walked out of the store with $59.85 in unpaid merchandise. A short lime later, Armstrong went into the store and made a fraudulent return.Gibson is charged with retail theft and conspiracy to commit theft by deception. Armstrong is charged with theft by deception, conspiracy to commit theft by deception and receiving stolen property.4:24 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Shawna S. Crissman, 31, of Butler struck two other vehicles that were parked in the 200 and 300 blocks of Kohler Avenue. Crissman fled the wrecks but was found about 40 minutes later at her home in the township's Highfield section.She is charged with two counts of hit-and-run as well failing to immediately notify police of an accident, careless driving and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.
State Police, Butler5:45 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Diane Wright, 45, of Saxonburg and a sport utility vehicle driven by Amanda R. Dittig, 22, of West Sunbury collided on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township. Police cited Wright for driving on the wrong side of the road and not wearing a seat belt.4:15 a.m. Saturday — Amy L. Rottman, 34, of Fenelton is suspected of drunken driving in a crash at Fenelton and Hayes roads in Clearfield Township.2:03 a.m. Saturday — Jimmy Stolebarger, 44, of Sunrise, Fla., was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Hall Road in Brady Township.1 a.m. Saturday — A thief stole a 23-year-old Beaver County man's Apple iPhone during a party at the University Village housing complex in Slippery Rock Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.12:36 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by David M. Mariotti, 54, of Petrolia struck a tree and embankment tree in Fairview Township.Mariotti initially lost control of his pickup and crashed into a tree along Buena Vista Road in Fairview Township. The truck traveled back onto the road, hit an embankment and ended in the southbound lane. At some point, someone tried to pull the pickup off the road but it crossed the road again and traveled through a metal fence. Mariotti fled the scene but police later issued him six traffic tickets.He was cited for hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, driving without insurance, driving without valid inspection, driving on the wrong side of the road and disregarding traffic lanes.9:45 a.m. Friday — Both drivers were hurt in a near head-on collision in the 200 block of Main Street in Bruin. Lawrence McConnell, 73, of Bruin, who was driving a pickup, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Bowen G. Bly, 23, of Parker, who was driving a car, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Police cited Bly for driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.Friday — John K. Mitchell, 33, of Uniontown was charged with DUI stemming from a traffic stop Feb. 21 in Connoquenessing Township. Police also cited him for careless driving and a stop sign violation.Friday — Dana R. Clay, 21, of Butler was charged with misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property from an alleged incident July 25 in Forward Township.Feb. 12 — A thief made off with several items after breaking into four vehicles in the 100 block of North River Avenue in Parker, Armstrong County. Among the stolen property was a Planet Audio compact disc player, two 12-inch Lenzer subwoofers, a Lenzer 1,000-watt amplifier, $60 in currency and a Kenwood radio, dual subwoofers and dual amp.The owners of the property included two men from Parker, an Emlenton man and a Sligo man. Anyone with information about the theft spree that happened between 7:12 and 7:28 a.m. is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
State Police, Mercer9:10 p.m. Sunday — A Clearfield County trucker was hurt when he lost control of his rig and crashed on Interstate 79 in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County. Frederick J. Frank, 70, of Morrisdale, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken with minor injuries to the Grove City Medical Center.Police said Frank was southbound when his tractor-trailer traveled into the median and slid about 575 feet before rolling onto its roof. Slippery Rock volunteer firefighters had to extricate him from the vehicle. He was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.8 p.m. Sunday — A 17-year-old boy escaped the George Junior Republic juvenile detention center in Pine Township and stole a vehicle at the nearby Filer Auto Body in Grove City.Police said the teen, who they did not identify, was later arrested in Slippery Rock. He is charged in juvenile court with theft of a vehicle and escape.
