Parker Twp. house hit by fire this afternoon

PARKER TWP — No one was injured this afternoon in a house fire on Hemlock Road.

The fire broke out at 12:19 p.m. at 323 Hemlock Road when no one was home. A passer-by saw smoke coming from the home and called 911, according to Chief Jeff Pyle of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire started near a wood-burning stove in the basement, but the cause of the fire is under investigation, Pyle said.

There is no estimate on the total damages, and the fire was still burning in the walls at 2:30 p.m., according to Pyle.

Because the fire happened during the work day, eight fire departments had to be called to have enough firefighters to fight the fire.

A list of departments who responded to the call was not immediately available.
