Special needs families can bowl, play laser tag

Event slated March 13 at Family Bowlaway

The families of children with special needs will get a chance to bowl, play laser tag and enjoy pizza next month at an event at Family Bowlaway in Butler.

The afternoon of fun is being hosted by Reagan’s Journey, a nonprofit organization for families of children with special needs, and is being sponsored by Quality Life Services, a company focused on nursing, Alzheimer’s care, adult day care and other services.

Fred Neal, a family adviser with Reagan’s Journey, said the event will reserve all of the bowling alley’s lanes from 2:30 to 5 p.m. March 13 for these families. The outing costs $15 per family, and includes bowling, laser tag, pizza and drinks for participants.

People can sign up on Facebook at www.facebook.com/reagansjourneyinc.

Neal said, “We want to create an environment where those families are free to just be themselves and enjoy making memories together, doing something that they may not normally go out and do together.”

Neal’s daughter, Reagan, was the inspiration behind the formation of Reagan’s journey. which helps connect families with financial and service information that can help them cope with the demands of raising a child with special needs.

He said he hopes the outing allows children and families to connect with each other.

“I love these events and love getting to spend time with other families who understand both the challenges and the joys that our children bring into our lives,” Neal said.
