Pre-K Counts student Kyle Fend plays with blocks Wednesday at the new program at Dassa McKinney Elementary School. The program at the school opened Feb. 11, according to Steven Green, chief executive officer of the Butler County Children's Center. The program is state funded and is run through the center, which uses a classroom at Dassa McKinney. “It's just remarkable how welcoming the school has been with us,” he said of the program that has 17 students.
