Butler PoliceTuesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for a Butler man suspected of passing counterfeit currency last week at a convenience store.Arthur A. Gillon III, 35, is accused of using seven bogus $20 bills on Feb. 8 to buy a prepaid credit card and two Slurpies at the 7-Eleven on Pillow Street.He drove away but the clerk got the license plate number.Police reviewed the store surveillance video and one of the officers recognized Gillon. That officer had charged Gillon only days earlier with an unrelated theft case.On Feb. 9, police went to the suspect’s home. He admitted being at the 7-Eleven. Later that day, the clerk identified Gillon in a photo lineup.He is charged with forgery, a felony, and theft by deception, a misdemeanor.Saturday — Police said 31-year-old Surenu E. Frank was at the Shell convenience store on West Jefferson Street about 6 p.m. when she allegedly place a $3 bottle of chocolate syrup under her coat. But when she went to leave, the bottle fell onto the floor.She placed the item back on a shelf and left in a car driven by a man she was with in the store.Police looked at video from the store’s security system and identified Frank and the man. Police charged Frank, who has three prior felony convictions, with a felony count of retail theft.While normally a summary or misdemeanor offense, retail theft is upgraded to a third-degree felony regardless of the stolen property’s value when a defendant has at least two prior arrests for the same crime.

Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Jesse J. Gardner, 41, of Chicora, who is accused of shoplifting $9.27 worth of merchandise Jan. 24 at the Trader Horn store at the Greater Butler Mart.Gardner, who has at least two prior arrests for shoplifting, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.11:10 a.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Justina N. Fichter, 27, of Cabot struck and sheared off a utility pole on Freeport Road. Police and volunteer firefighters had to close both lanes because of low-hanging power lines.A West Penn Power crew replaced the pole. Police cited Fichter for driving too fast for conditions.

Grove City PoliceWednesday — Meghann A. Kelly, 37, of Grove City was charged with passing a bogus check for $650 that she cashed Jan. 19 at the Grove City Credit Union. Kelly is charged with bad checks.Wednesday — Police filed misdemeanor drug-related charges against four out-of-county men stemming from an incident about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 6 on the Grove City College campus.Charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia are Connor T. Gisel, 23, and Chad R. Gisel, 20, both of West Chester, Chester County.Charged with possession of drug paraphernalia are Caleb S. Knudsen, 21, of Saylorsburg, Monroe County, and Tyler P. McGrath, 21, of Pottstown, Montgomery County.

State Police, Butler7:35 a.m. Tuesday — Connie S. Breese, 53, of Grove City lost control of her sport utility vehicle on snow-covered South Benbrook Road just north of Route 422 west and slid into a tree in Center Township.6:49 p.m. Feb. 9 — Two suspected burglars — a male and female — broke into a building at the Church of the Nazarene Campground on North Road in Franklin Township. A police report did not indicate if anything was taken.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

State Police, Franklin6:58 p.m. Wednesday — A Bedford County trucker lost control of his tractor-trailer and crashed into woods along Interstate 80 in Irwin Township. The driver, Jason K. Lange, 39, of Bedford was not hurt.
