PennDOT vehicle knocks out powerJACKSON TWP — A state Department of Transportation vehicle tore down an overhead power line Tuesday morning, taking out electricity in parts of the township.FirstEnergy, which owns Penn Power, said 500 to 1,500 households had power outages. The township municipal building also was without power.The accident occurred just after 9 a.m. near 22056 Perry Highway when the PennDOT bucket truck dragged down the power line.Witnesses reported that the bucket of the truck was raised at the time of the accident, which is under investigation.Power was restored by Penn Power crews to most residents by 11:30 a.m.Bad weather was cited as the cause of the PennDOT vehicle crashing, according to the FirstEnergy website.No injuries were reported.

Conno sewage plan to be discussedCONNOQUENESSING TWP — The township supervisors meeting that will include an update on the township’s multi-million-dollar sewage infrastructure plan will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the municipal building, 102 Township Drive.The meeting will have an update on the sewage plan that includes building a sewage treatment system near the intersection of Dick Road and Boy Scout Road.The project, which is estimated to cost $14.8 million and take about five years to complete, would serve the township’s Route 68 corridor as well as areas to the north and south of that road.

Beer, wine vendors sought for festivalSEVEN FIELDS — Borough officials hope to hold a brewfest this summer, and are seeking vendors.Borough manager Tom Smith said he hopes to find 15 to 25 beer and wine vendors interested in participating.The festival would be held in front of the community center on Castle Creek Drive. Proceeds from ticket sales would be used to cover the cost of the event.Those interested in participating can call the borough office at 724-776-3090.
