1,000 veteran march planned for June in Butler
Butler County will host a 1,000 veterans march June 14.
The march will be at 5:30 p.m. at Main and Penn streets in Butler and will continue south to the courthouse. It will be followed by activities in Diamond Park.
This is the first event of its kind in the county.
John Cyprian, director of Butler County Veterans Services, said the event is being planned to let people in the community know that veterans still can serve.
“Even though we have hung up our uniforms, we still care about our community,” Cyprian said.
Cyprian said veterans can participate in the march for free, but a $10 donation will get a participant a T-shirt.
Civilians who want to donate $10 also can get a T-shirt.
Proceeds will benefit the Veterans In Need Foundation.
Cyprian said veterans should check with the VFW or American Legion posts they belong to since the posts may be participating and may already have covered to cost of the shirts.
Cyprian said veterans should register by April 15 by calling Veterans Services at 724-284-5352
