Suspected heroin found during search
CENTER TWP — A Slippery Rock woman arrested in Butler County was later found with suspected heroin while being booked into the Armstrong County Jail on a pair of warrants, authorities said.
A trooper about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday stopped Joyce M. Anderson, 43, of Slippery Rock on Route 8 in Center Township after spotting her driving a car with an expired inspection sticker.
Following the traffic stop, state police said, it was learned that Anderson was wanted on two separate warrants in Armstrong County.
Court records showed the warrants were issued last week after she failed to appear for court hearings in connection with a pair of felony retail theft cases in East Franklin Township last summer.
She was placed in the Butler County Prison until two Armstrong County sheriff’s deputies arrived and took her to their county jail.
While Anderson was being searched, a corrections officer found one stamp bag and one empty stamp bag of suspected heroin in her coat pocket.
She was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on the warrants. Police said they also charged Anderson with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia,
State police in Butler cited her for driving a vehicle without valid inspection and not wearing a seat belt.
