Robert Marvin Allison Sr., ex-Slippery Rock Mayor
Robert Marvin Allison Sr. of Slippery Rock passed away Wednesday at the Grove City Medical Center.
He was born March 27, 1930, in Deere Creek, Gibsonia, to Robert McClintoc Allison and Gladys Elizabeth Graham Allison. He married Charlotte Eileen Riddle on Sept. 24, 1949.
Bob retired in 1985 after serving the community for 22½ years as co-owner and operator along with his wife, Charlotte, of Allison's Isaly's in Slippery Rock.
Bob was a two-term mayor of Slippery Rock and a member, former elder and deacon of the Center Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Slippery Rock Sportsman's Club; an avid golfer; a member of the AAS Rite Valley of New Castle; a lifetime member of the Slippery Rock Fire Department; a past president and board member of the Christian United Warehouse in Butler; and a volunteer for the Slippery Rock Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard. He was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Slippery Rock Rotary Club at the community awards dinner for his work with the food cupboard.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte, of Slippery Rock; two sons, Robert M. Allison Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Rutherfordton, N.C., and C. Eugene Allison and his wife, Joy, of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren, Robert Allison, Kerri Maynor, Autumn Daoust, Fred DeLong and Heather Zook; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
ALLISON — A public memorial service, who died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. William Mumaw presiding.The family will receive friends following the service in the church's social hall until 5 p.m.The Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock, is assisting with the arrangements.
