Esther Irene Long

Esther Irene Long, 86, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Wednesday at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

She was born March 4, 1929, in Butler to Charles Relton and Gertrude Charlotte (McGinnis) Michael.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who was extremely proud of her family and rejoiced in all of their accomplishments.

She spent endless hours baking and preparing for company. She never knew a stranger and touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

She was known for and will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, humor, knowledge, faithfulness, wisdom, grace, hospitality, patriotism, humility, compassion and selflessness.

She will be forever missed and remembered by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles William Long; her great-grandson, Orion Lee Garza; four brothers, Marlin Lee Roy, Charles Marion, Dean R. and Dewitt Ardell Michael; and her sister, Joyce Snow.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Johnson and her husband, Roy, of Tyler, Texas, Cristie Barrow and her husband, Gary, of Lubbock, Texas, and Billie Sterling and her husband, Michael, of Odessa, Texas; her brother, Bernard Michael and his wife, Peggy, of Petrolia; five grandchildren, Kevin W. Johnson, Kandy Messenger, Rob Sterling, Angela Garza and Lindsey Keeton; 12 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Haley, Lynden, Bailee, Landyn, Abrum, Orien, Arien, Mari, Cheyenne and Kylee; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

LONG — Family visitation for Esther Irene Long, who died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, was Sunday at the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home's chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Johnson officiating.Interment followed at Ector County Cemetery in the Rosehill section.
