BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Evan Wimer will discuss Gideon efforts at the Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will observe Holy Communion at both Sunday services. Bikes to Hope will meet after church.

A container for children’s clothing donations is in the narthex. The youths will collect nonperishable food and money Sunday for the Covenant Presbyterian food cupboard.

The men’s breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Monday at Kings Restaurant, 191 New Castle Road. The First English Lutheran Church dinner team will meet at 4 p.m. Monday.

The Ash Wednesday service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will have a luncheon and movie following the Sunday morning worship service.

The Sunday evening pickup basketball and volleyball games for recovering addicts are canceled until Feb 28.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church holds services at McQuistion Elementary School.

The elementary-aged Life Group (kindergarten to sixth grade) will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the home of the Rev. Ben Ogle.

The Tuesday weekly prayer meeting is canceled and will resume at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 16.

CIVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at the Sunday worship service.

The annual corporation meeting will be after the Sunday service in the assembly room.

The Shrove Tuesday pancake supper and silent auction will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in fellowship hall. Auction items are being accepted.

Covenant will host the joint Presbyterian Ash Wednesday service with the sacrament of Holy Communion at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Clark Sawyer will be the guest minister.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Sunday schedule for First Baptist Church of Butler, 221 W. New Castle St., will include Sunday school, morning worship, a luncheon and a 1 p.m. worship service.

FIRST BAPTIST OF EVANS CITY

The concerned women for missions group of First Baptist Church of Evans City, 242 S. Washington St., Evans City, will meet at 7 p.m. today at the church.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have its annual congregational meeting Sunday following both services. There will not be a single service.

A traditional Shrove Tuesday pancake supper will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

The Ash Wednesday service with Holy Communion will be at 7:30 p.m.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN OF BAKERSTOWN

First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, 5825 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, will have an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The service will feature the Rev. Dan Muttart, the Rev. Jeremy Collins, the praise band and the chancel choir. For more information, call 724-443-1555.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will have ladies night out at 5:30 p.m. today at Rock Ann Haven, 141 Greenwood Drive.

GLOW for children 5 to 15 will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The worship and music committee will meet Sunday morning after worship.

The finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a free will offering. The talent show will be at 7 p.m.

The Ash Wednesday service with the imposition of ashes will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Trevor Ackelson, Amber Crowe and Pat Hovis will provide special music at GraceWay for the Sunday worship service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Rev. James Campbell, guest pastor, will deliver the message at the Sunday service of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated.

A congregational meeting for annual reports will follow the service.

The women’s book club will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Reservations for the Feb. 11 senior night out dinner are due.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will celebrate Scout Sunday at the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

After the service there will be a Christian education meeting and a membership meeting.

The Rev. Terry Stoops will lead the Sunday services.

There will be walk-in Communion services for Ash Wednesday every fifteen minutes from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

New Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at all services this weekend.

Life Choices baby bottles should be returned this weekend.

OAK HILLS

Oak Hills Christian Church, 100 Township Line Road, will have SOUP-er Bowl Sunday. The Rev. Kimberly Merrill will lead the worship service. Cans of soup will be collected for the local food bank and there will be a soup luncheon.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Members of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will return to Bayville, N.J., to help with continuing rebuilding from Super Storm Sandy. To participate, contact the pastor.

Prayer fliers and prayer cards to share with neighbors are available in the church lobby.

RIDER LUTHERAN CHURCH

The steering committee of Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

The council will meet at 8 p.m. Monday.

There will be a pot luck dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by a 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday service with Communion and ashes.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will join a community Ash Wednesday service with Communion at 7:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Church youths will have soup pots in the narthex for the souper bowl of caring offering Sunday. Donations will benefit the Salvation Army’s efforts to alleviate hunger in Butler.

The youth group will host a soup luncheon in the memorial room after Sunday worship. Donations received at the luncheon will benefit the youth group’s local mission efforts.

THE SOWERS CHAPEL

The Sowers Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver, is offering a “Swedenborg Made Simple” Sunday sermon series. The series will introduce theologian Emanuel Swedenborg. Topics will include the deeper meaning in the Bible, spiritual rebirth, marriage that lasts forever, how the end times did not end the world and Jesus Christ as the one God of heaven and earth. ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate Holy Communion at the Sunday worship service.

The church also will celebrate the Super Bowl with a special collection for the Evans City Community Food Cupboard. It is the cause of the month for February.

The joint parish Ash Wednesday service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect with the Rev. Gary Brown.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will celebrate Holy Communion Sunday.

The Super Bowl of caring will follow each service. The youths will collect cans and cash for the Cabot food bank.

There will be no Monday morning meeting.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

Ash Wednesday services will be at noon and 7 p.m.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will have Holy Communion at all weekend worship services.

There will be a soup sale after the 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Bible Bowl practice will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The prayer shawl group will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church lounge.

The Ash Wednesday worship service, including distribution of ashes and Holy Communion, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

SUMMIT PRESBYTERIAN

Those who ordered stromboli from Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, may pick up their orders Friday.

There will be a craft day starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Sunday worship will include Communion. Small group studies for all ages will follow the service. Soup orders will be ready for pick up after worship.

The deacons will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and the session will meet at 7 p.m.

There will be an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. There will be no praise team or chancel choir practice.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will have the February men’s ministry breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday at Eat’n Park, 114 Clearview Circle.

There will be a meeting at 10 a.m. Sunday in the pastor’s office for anyone interested in joining Trinity.

The stewardship ministry will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Ash Wednesday services will be at noon and 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The worship and music ministry will meet at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 11.

VALENCIA PRESBYTERIAN

Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., Valencia, will have an Ash Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Communion and imposition of ashes will be offered.

GROW classes will not meet Wednesday. However, dinner will be served and is open to all. To attend the dinner, make a reservation.

WHITESTOWN ROAD BAPTIST

Whitestown Road Baptist Church, 409 Whitestown Road, will have its First Friday Family Film at 7 p.m. Friday.
