SUMMIT TWP — The eastbound lanes of Route 422 were closed early today after a Penske box truck struck a center barrier and overturned near the Mitchell Hill Road exit.

The accident occurred about 4:36 a.m., according to dispatch reports.

Lee Gumpp with the Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Department said the westbound truck hit a center concrete barrier head-on and rolled over into the eastbound lanes. Gumpp said he does not believe the driver of the truck was injured.

Both eastbound lanes between the East Jefferson Street and Mitchell Hill Road exits were closed until about 7 a.m. while crews assisted at the scene.
