GROVE CITY — A team from Grove City College will make an appearance next week on the Food Network show “Cake Wars.”

College alumna Emily Bartlow and senior Tristan Slater will compete in the bake-off’s “Minecraft” episode, which will air at 9 p.m. Monday.

The pair ended up on “Cake Wars” after Bartlow noticed a call for contestants on the network’s website.

Bartlow, who graduated in December with a degree in communications and a minor in business, and Slater, who is in her final semester and working on degrees in communications and Spanish, filmed their episode of the show in October in Los Angeles during fall break.

They have been sworn to secrecy about the outcome.

In a news release from the college, Slater said the focus was less on winning and more on enjoying the experience together.

“It was our final semester together, and this was the icing on the cake,” Slater said.
