Knights donation buys ultrasound machine

SLIPPERY ROCK — A medical center with a location in Slippery Rock is replacing an older ultrasound machine with a newer model thanks to Beaver County’s Knights of Columbus Council.

Alpha Omega Center said that the council donated money to buy the new machine, which cost $25,850, using the proceeds from a Baby Bottle drive the council has each year. Those funds were combined with a matching donation from the Supreme Office of the Knights, as well as assistance from the organization’s New Castle Council 512, which covered the cost of installation.

The Butler County’s Knights council also got involved with the effort, paying for the older machine to be shipped overseas to help found a pregnancy medical center in Moscow.

Alpha Omega Center is a nonprofit organization with medical center locations in Slippery Rock and New Castle. It provides education and services to women and families experiencing unexpected pregnancies in Butler, Mercer and Lawrence counties.
