GROVE CITY — Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV has partnered with an international relief organization to help needy children throughout the region.

The partnership with Feed the Children is the third time the IU’s Pennsylvania’s Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness has been selected to help assist with the relief effort.

On Wednesday a tractor-trailer full of supplies was delivered to the IU’s Grove City offices.

Staff members unloaded and distributed the items throughout the IU’s Region 5, which includes Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties. The items were delivered to crisis shelters, school districts, head start programs and special education classes.

Bryda Drumm, a social worker for the IU, said the shipment makes a tremendous difference in the education of needy children.

“One of the major obstacles that children face is the lack of school supplies, food and personal care items,” she said. “The items provided by Feed the Children are a tremendous help.”
