Suspects facing theft charges
CRANBERRY TWP — Several people are accused of stealing more than $8,000 in tools from Lowes, although one suspect claimed to have stolen more than $100,000.
Timothy Brown Jr., 35, of Rochester; Daniel Nolder, 26, of New Brighton; Sarah Lloyd, 26, of Cranberry Township; Austin Hunter, 26, of Cranberry Township; and David Anderson, Jr., 34, of New Brighton are all facing multiple felony theft and conspiracy charges in connection with an alleged organized retail theft ring.
Brown allegedly stole Kobalt-brand hand tools from the Lowes in Cranberry Commons off Route 228 on eight occasions between Dec. 2, 2014, and Jan. 4, according to court documents.
Nolder, Lloyd, Hunter and Anderson then allegedly returned the stolen merchandise for electronic gift cards. Video surveillance and store records were used to identify the suspects both allegedly stealing the items and returning them.
The total value of the tools was $8,216.
In an interview with Sgt. Matthew Irvin of the township police, Nolder, Brown and Lloyd admitted to their involvement in the crimes.
Brown also said they had committed numerous other thefts and fraudulent returns and that he was “extremely confident” that the total value of the stolen merchandise was more than $100,000, according to court documents.
Nolder on Jan. 15 appeared in district court and waived his case to court. Anderson, Brown, Lloyd and Hunter have yet to appear in court.
