Judge revokes bail for ex-coach
PITTSBURGH — A former Pine-Richland High School basketball coach who allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old female player has been jailed.
Prosecutors in Allegheny County had asked that bail be revoked for Cliff Foster, 33, because he’d reportedly contacted the victim after he was barred from doing so.
The motion says Foster and his sister contacted the victim repeatedly between Nov. 26 and Jan. 4.
Foster, a Knoch High School graduate, played on the basketball team at Knoch.
Court records say Allegheny County Judge Jill E. Rangos Tuesday heard the request and revoked Foster’s bail. Before this, Foster had been free having posted a $20,000 bond.
He did not testify during the brief hearing Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Foster’s sister asked the girl how she was doing and implied that Foster wanted to speak with her. The motion says that the teen was called by Foster on his sister’s phone.
The former Pine-Richland coach is charged with felony counts of institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors.
He was hired as the girl’s basketball coach at Pine-Richland before the 2012-2013 season.
Foster’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
